Day 1: Resurrection Fire

 The spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
  
  Romans 8:11

I’ve never known what it’s like to be physically buried alive but I can remember a time when I felt spiritually and emotionally forced underground.

Covered in dirt. Hidden. Forgotten. Darkness piling in around me. It was a bleak time and I was in a desperate place.

The world around us right now can look pretty dark. As the world battles the sudden and hostile increase of Covid-19, many of those around us are now facing a new, very real threat to their lives.

Even those whose life isn't under threat face the prospect of grieving loved ones and are counting loss in other areas of life; regular connection, social interaction and normality.

We are crying out to be rescued.

Jesus saves us from death. He sets us free from fear.

He is leading a constant and continual rescue mission to bring us all back to life. He is in the business of restoration and resurrection, of all who call on him.

Resurrection Glory

Jesus rescued me from what had been a death sentence for my future.

During my healing, I heard Him remind me that His role as saviour is not just a one off. He continually saves me.

He’s endlessly seeking to share His saving grace. Daily, if I let Him.

He joins me in the grave.

Covers me with His love.

Gently breathes life into me.

And lifts me into His resurrection glory.

Whilst the events leading to this revelation were far from ideal, they allowed me to see the beautiful love of God through new eyes.

The same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in me.

So often as believers we can get caught up with our testimony story seeing it as a one off, like an advert or trailer for salvation. But what if we viewed it, told it and lived it for the feature length movie that it truly is?

We have been given new life and a new hope.

You were surrounded by death and decay. There was no way out. But in God's glorious rescue mission, he raised you with Christ from the dead. You are alive!

What would your life look like if you grabbed hold of this truth?

Every breath is your second chance. You have the Spirit of the living God inside of you. The life that runs through your body is fuelled by His love, mercy and grace. You’ve been raised up. Not to live in fear, comfort and mediocrity.

Your life has been ransomed so that you can be wholly set apart, on fire with a passion to see His power demonstrated through every aspect of your life.

The ground breaking, earth shaking, tomb rolling power that raised Jesus from the grave is available to us, every… single…. day.

Even when we’re in isolation. And even when we’re practising social distancing.

While the world around us swarms with death, fear and despair, fix your eyes heavenward. You were made for more. You are ALIVE.

Let's Pray

Father,

I thank you that you are sovereign. Thank you that you are always in control, even when the world around us feels unstable. Set me on fire today with your resurrection power that lives in me. Help me to demonstrate your life-giving goodness as I walk through the day ahead.

What's Next?

Ask the Spirit to open your eyes today, to see the world through the lens of the resurrection. There is so much more to life when you remember you have been rescued from certain death and raised up to live a life on fire for Jesus!
